Jeremiah wrote, “I am filled with bitterness, I have forgotten happiness, my strength has perished.” Then, before his outward circumstance had changed, he remembered what his momma taught him about the God of Israel and he wrote, “This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. The Lord’s loving-kindnesses indeed never cease. For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness.”

Jeremiah would not let circumstance dictate his view of God; he let his view of God dictate his view of circumstance. It’s what real faith has always looked like.
