Larry Crabb is right, “Trusting God is a dangerous business unless we’ve trusted Him for what He’s actually promised to provide.” Sadly, many who call themselves Christians are more interested in using God, rather than knowing, loving, and enjoying Him. Contrary to what the prosperity preachers tell us, God cannot be trusted to be our celestial Santa Claus.

If we are truly His, God will not allow us settle for anything less than an ever-deepening intimacy with Him – whatever that takes. God’s love for us is, as C. S. Lewis says so perfectly, far too “splendid” to give us anything less.
